Lauren Yeager
Longevity
Using salvaged consumer material, Lauren Yeager creates sculptural assemblages that at once reference classical and modernist architectural forms and recall the ordinary routines of everyday life. Yeager transforms once-loved items into relics of personal histories. By elevating waste into art, she challenges us to reconsider the ways we establish value. In the courtyard, familiar plastic objects replace traditional stone and plaster columns and monuments. Sculptures assembled from remnants of US cultural production—like Coleman coolers and children’s toys from the Ohio-based company Little Tikes—demonstrate deeply enmeshed relationships with plastic.
